Today, I went to a memorial service for a Veteran who passed away last week at a permanent supportive housing property for Veterans, after overdosing from Fentanyl. At the memorial, I saw all of the beautiful artwork he made from scrap metal.

Today, our team took its “maiden-voyage” out to a pocket of our city, to see who we could find in need. We’ve chosen outreach as our tangible way to reach out to the community neighborhoods where we hope to land with Sanctuary.

In February 2020, on a cold day where rained turned to an icy sleet, I was doing outreach to an encampment. I met a homeless lady in her 60’s, who had been sleeping outside for over 4 years. This is where the hope for Sanctuary Indy was born.
